Hi guys. Looking for some advise. Just installed a set of BC hogslayers yesterday, on my 2010 1600, now it is dying when decelerating, especially if downshifting.
The cat is removed as well as the airbox, pc5 installed running short TOR tune.
SAI is blocked, and was running well with stock pipes. My gut says it's way too lean, but I don't have much experience yet with all this.
Do I need to go back and change the base map perhaps?
Ideas or help gents?
Anything helps. Thanks!!

I would try a different tune, the tors will be lean for sure. If you have Tuneecu downloaded and the cable try Aussietbird's latest tune in the Tune Repository thread, it's towards the end. You may be able to convert it for the pc5 but I don't know how to do that. There may be further tunes in the TR to help.

Thanks. Didn't have tune ecu, but ordered a cable...
Would I have to un hook the pc5 to access the base tune?

No , you can read the base tune and change it with tuneecu but you will have to disconnect the pc to use the tune otherwise the pcv will try to modify it or use it's stored data.

I'm curious as to why you have a PCV if you are running the tors tune, unless you have the autotune module as well.

When I took the airbox out, it was super lean, and would not stay running and the dealer changed the tune.
I added the power commander after that, and thought the pipes were on the way, but then BC backorder d them, so I ran with the stock pipes for quite a while. I say it's the TORs tune, but I am not 100% sure I guess as I can't see it.

Ok, but what is the PC doing? Is there a map loaded in to it? If so who designed it, you can read the PCV on a laptop

What was done with the airbox sensors?

Not sure about the airbox sensors...hmm
The power commander has a map loaded to it, but maybe the airbox install wasn't done right? There were only two options for the PC, one for stock, and one for TOR I believe.
I'm going to try hooking it up tomorrow and make sure the right PC5 tune is still loaded, and then I guess I'll investigate the air sensors.....
Always an adventure!

OK. The PCV is usually installed so that someone can load custom tunes or you can adjust tables if you know what you are doing, preferably a dyno tuner. What the PC does is interrupt the signal from the ECU to the injectors, feeding the injectors a saved tune. You don't really need one unless you like to fiddle (or/and fit the autotune kit) as most of the Tbird ECU's are not locked which means you can load/alter tunes to it via TuneEcu. Many dyno tuners prefer TuneEcu to a Power Commander on our bikes.

PeteronKarra knows much more than I do on the airbox stuff, I will see if I can get him to comment.

Gotta say it's weird that it wouldn't run after the airbox change. Wouldn't run at all or wouldn't run properly?

It wouldn't run properly.
Picked it up from the dealer, and it died about 15 minutes out and I couldn't get it started. They hauled it back and said it was too lean, and said they loaded a new tune in it.
I installed the PC5 after that with the recommended tune from British Customs, and it ran fantastic with the stock pipes.
Maybe I'll disconnect the PC5 when I get the cable for tune ecu and start over?
It absolutely screams right now while excelerating, but dies on aggressive decel or downshift,

I really do appreciate the advise guys.. First bike I've had with efi, so I'm a little lost!

Plus, if it's not a Harley over here, good luck finding a decent tech for a TBIRD!
Glad I found this forum though!

Ok, so you have a tune in the PCV from BC? I'm not savvy with their tunes but is it for airbox and their pipes? I would have thought that it would be. Did you locate the sensors?

If it was me I would disconnect the PCV and try it, nothing to lose, then when you get the cable install Mick's tune , it seems to get a good wrap. Also make sure that you don't have any exhaust leaks at the headers and muffler joints.

Thanks, appreciate the help.
I played around a bit with the tables on the PC5, and got it running better, but I really don't know what I'm doing, so, I'll take it easy until I know I got it right. Believe I will give TuneECU a go when it arrives as well,
Not a lot of service over here right now, so I'm learning a lot, but it's getting nice out, so anxious to get her going!

I'll let you know what the results are. Thanks again!

When you get your cable I'd check throttle balance. And stepper motor setting. Tunecu sort of takes you through the process. Can't help thinking there's something more going on. I know it's a bit of a go to response but check you map tube connections as well. Especially if your throttle balance is way off.

Pretty sure you can check throttle balance with the PCV

Well, finally got her all fixed up.
Map tubes were the culprit. It wasn't as apparent until I threw the new exaust on and remapped.
What a difference now though!
New base tune with TuneECU, and temporarily dialed in with the PC5, until I can get it on a dyno.
She'll just about twist the handlebars out if your hands when you hit it!
Big grins!!!

Thanks everyone for the guidance...
Much appreciated!
